Founder of EHCP Enhance
Hi, I'm Sam. I'm a parent, qualified teacher and SENDCo, and former Local Authority SEND officer with years of experience writing and reviewing EHCPs.
Over the years, I've worked closely with families and schools, writing and reviewing EHCPs and supporting parents through the draft consultation process.
During that time, I saw first-hand how overwhelming the process can feel. Families are often given a draft EHCP alongside lengthy professional reports and expected to quickly understand complex terminology, identify gaps or unclear wording, and make important decisions—all while balancing work, family life and caring responsibilities.
"It often felt unfair that families were expected to navigate such an important process with so little accessible support available to them."
That's why I created EHCP Enhance.
There are lots of AI-assisted tools appearing in the SEND space, but I firmly believe that AI is only one part of the picture. The quality of the guidance depends on the experience behind it.
EHCP Enhance has been developed using the SEND knowledge I've built through years of writing EHCPs, working in schools and supporting children and families, alongside the SEND Code of Practice and recognised best practice guidance. Every check, recommendation and quality criterion has been shaped by real-world professional experience.
At the same time, my husband Pete and I have built the platform together. While I've focused on the EHCP review methodology and professional quality framework, Pete has brought over 20 years' experience in digital strategy, user experience and designing secure online services. His expertise has shaped everything from how the platform works to how documents are handled and how families' information is protected.
A note on AI
I'll be honest — I was sceptical about using AI in this space at first. I wouldn't trust a general AI chatbot to review something as important as a child's EHCP, and I wouldn't expect families to either.
EHCP Enhance doesn't ask AI to decide what makes a good EHCP. We designed a professional review framework first, built on years of SEND experience, and AI simply applies that framework consistently and efficiently. Families deserve guidance that's grounded in real EHCP expertise, delivered through a platform that's been thoughtfully designed with care, privacy and security in mind.
